Boyce Harries Chania Estate

Chania Estate has been run by the Harries family since 1926. Impeccable technical management of the farm and an exceptional range of varieties, including the old and no less sublime French Mission, the first variety planted in Kenya and the ancestor of SL. They are processed here using the Kenyan double steeping method, which gives the coffee great purity on the palate.

Since 2018, Boyce Harries has totally rethought his farming practices, aware that he had reached the end of the famous conventional model. These practices prevented us from developing a true partnership with him, despite the exceptional quality of his coffees.

Drastic and progressive reduction of inputs, planting of cover trees, creation of a forest, a pond, better water management, milk production... We are happy to accompany them on this path and to propose these great Kenyans.

Coffees from Kenya

The new Kenyan industry

With their lively, explosive acidity, Kenyan coffees are typical of specialty coffee.

Jacques Chambrillon knows these coffees well. For several years now, he has been working with Belco to set up a sustainable coffee industry in this tea country, which is slowly making the transition to coffee.

In 2019, Jacques welcomes Christophe on his first trip to Kenya, and the two of them set off in search of the country's best coffees.

In this quest, Christophe discovers the huge tasting tables, symbols of the standardization of Kenyan production, before setting off to meet more virtuous models, first at Boyce Harris, and then at young producer David Maguta.
