Our mission
To develop speciality coffee and commit to a sustainable coffee industry that respects producers, the environment and consumers.
OUR COMMITMENTS
Transport by sail
Our partner Belco plans to transport 100% of its coffees by sail by 2030 thanks to the company TOWT, TransOceanic Wind Transport. ‘TOWT's mission is to take action to decarbonise maritime transport by using the power of the wind for a more sober, less hydrocarbon-dependent and more transparent mode of transport.’ Terres de Café is one of the first French coffee roasters to commit to TOWT, shipping its first cargo from Colombia in August 2024.
The forest funds
In 2020, Terres de Café created a funds for the sustainable development of the speciality coffee sector in order to finance original projects. The fund is financed by the sale of THE FOREST coffee, a blend of forest coffees, at a price of €1 per kilo.
Tatmara exemplary farm
In 2023, The Forest Funds is helping to finance a washing station for one of our partner farms, Tatmara in Ethiopia. This sublime farm, run by Negussie Tadessa, lost in the forest, is a haven of biodiversity. The inauguration of the washing station in October 2023 is the first stage in a programme aimed at creating an exemplary production system, by creating the infrastructure needed for Tatmara to become an example of a self-sufficient, globally sustainable farm. Our aim is twofold:
- to meet the environmental, economic and social criteria
- to create tools to measure the impact of the project and draw up an agricultural, carbon and economic balance sheet.
Change now
Terres de Café is the exclusive coffee partner of ChangeNOW, the international event bringing together the key players in sustainability and the most innovative solutions for the planet. This unique event gives us the opportunity to invite thousands of visitors to taste a 100% forest coffee blend, discuss the challenges facing the coffee industry in the future and raise awareness of deforestation in producing countries and the importance of promoting forest coffees.
