The coffee of the Month, September 2023: Coffee Wanjairy Estate - Alex Mwangi

Tasting note :

  • Nose: heady notes of candied black fruit.
  • On the palate:
  •  the mellow cup is as rich as it is tart, with notes of blackcurrant jam, blackberries and a hint of rhubarb. The finish is lingering, a pleasant reminder of brown sugar and blueberry.

A sweet worthy of the finest Kenyan terroirs.

Sourcing note :

The "Small Farms, Big Farmers" program highlights small producers who deserve to be recognized for their vision of the coffee industry and the quality of their coffees. Alex Mwangi's SL28 is a Kenyan of excellence, with notes of black fruit.

Alex Mwangi runs his pretty little farm like a good father, taking care of his coffee trees as well as his mango trees and other crops that he looks after and that feed his "big little family". He himself supervises the planting and pruning of the coffee trees, and carries out all the fermentations to give us full-bodied, full-bodied coffees.
