Paul Doyle - La Mikava - Geisha Washed - Légendes
Paul came to Colombia looking for love, and found coffee! Born in England, this fine, phlegmatic man's first life was dedicated to coffee, as a coffee roaster and importer in Portland, Oregon. Somewhat in spite of himself, his second life will be too, but as a producer, and not just any producer, as he becomes the first “gringo” to win the grail, the Cup Of Excellence in 2019, with the previously unattained score of 92.71/100. Very rare nano-lots, reserved as allocations for a select few roasters or competitive baristas. It was with a Mikava geisha that Jordan Tachnakian won the Ibrik World Championship in 2024, for Terres de Café.

Sourcing note
Mikava consists of two farms, Marsella and Santuario, in the department of Riseralda. Twelve hectares in all, mostly planted with Geisha. Paul Doyle's son, Kevin, manages part of the operation. The quality of Mikava coffees is due in part to the drastic selection, one in a hundred, of the cherries destined for the production of rare nano-lots weighing just a few kilos. Fermentations are no exception, with state-of-the-art infrastructures and equipment adapted to the management of very small batches, enabling a high degree of precision that is one of the attributes of the great coffees that come out of these farms: purity, precision, finesse.
