Coffee Buenos Aires - Maracaturra Natural
Marracaturra, Nicaragua's queen variety, by the greatest expert of the genre, regularly awarded the Cup of Excellence.
Sourcing note
Luis Emilio Valladarez began growing coffee in the Diplito region in 1955 with the 6-hectare Buenos Aires farm. Now run by Olmann Valladarez, his son, Buenos Aires covers 100 hectares.
A forerunner, for 14 years Olmann has organised the parcelling out of his crops by variety, and the multi-processing of his coffees to obtain batches. He grows his coffee under shade, and is one of the exceptions in Nicaragua. The fruits of all this hard work will be seen in 2015 with a victory in the CUP OF EXCELLENCE.
Every year, Olmann gives us access to all the farm's nano lots, the best of its production. For the second year running, we've fallen head over heels for this Maracaturra Nature. The culmination of a masterpiece of craftsmanship.
Tasting note
On the nose : notes of exotic fruit and chocolate.
On the palate : a coffee with notes of strawberry, passion fruit and chocolate. The body is round and silky.
This coffee is roasted for espresso methods and slow coffee methods.
Sourcing note
No track, no road to get to Negussa Tadessa, the owner of Tatmara Plantation, a sublime farm lost in the forest like the coffee that is harvested there. Bonga's feeder. Tatmara is a delight, a place touched by grace, like the coffee that is harvested there.
