What Is Specialty Coffee? Our Quality Standards (Scores 80+ to 88+)

Specialty coffee is defined by full traceability and the absence of defects in the cup. To help you navigate our selection, we classify our coffees according to the international standards of the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association):

  • Very Good Coffees (Score 80+): Terroir-driven coffees, perfect for those looking for high-quality coffee for everyday enjoyment.
  • Exceptional Coffees (Score 85+): Remarkable lots offering great complexity and a distinctive flavour profile.
  • Grand Cru Coffees (Score 88+): Among the finest coffees in the world, featuring rare lots with unique and memorable tasting notes.
  • Blends: Our exclusive blends of several specialty coffees, carefully created to achieve balance and harmony in the cup.

A Strong Commitment to Sustainable, Organic and Agroforestry-Grown Coffee

All our coffees come from ethical and sustainable production. For our partner coffee producers, respect for the environment is a non-negotiable requirement, making each plantation part of a more sustainable approach to coffee farming.

A large proportion of our range is certified organic. Many of our coffees are also forest-grown coffees with a carbon-neutral impact.

Choosing a Terres de Café coffee means supporting this commitment and contributing to a more sustainable coffee industry. Our partner farms incorporate advanced environmentally responsible practices and infrastructure, including rainwater harvesting systems and diversified farming through polyculture.

Unique Coffee Terroirs and Rare Varieties: From Bourbon to Geisha

Discover a wide selection of Arabica coffee varieties in our online shop. Explore coffees ranging from Bourbon and Geisha to Typica, Pacamara and Caturra.

Each coffee variety has its own distinctive characteristics in terms of flavour, bean density, body and subtle aromatic notes, offering a wide range of experiences in the cup.

Customisation: Choose Your Coffee Grind and Roast Profile

Take coffee customisation even further by selecting the roast profile and grind type best suited to your Arabica coffee. Our aim is to help you prepare the best possible cup according to your preferred brewing equipment and extraction method.

To ensure maximum freshness and bring out the full expression of each coffee's flavours, all our coffees are roasted in France, near Paris, and shipped as freshly as possible, either as whole beans or freshly ground coffee.

The prices of our coffees reflect the rarity, quality and score attributed to each individual lot.

The Right Extraction for Every Coffee Machine: From Espresso to Slow Coffee

Whether you prefer slow coffee methods or pressure-based espresso extraction, we adapt the grind size to suit your brewing equipment:

  • Slow coffee and filter methods: Ideal for V60, Chemex, French press and siphon coffee makers.
  • Espresso extraction: Suitable for traditional espresso machines, moka pots, automatic bean-to-cup machines with integrated grinders, manual espresso machines and Flair systems.
