Alejo Castro - Volcan Azul Estate Geisha Natural Warm Anaerobic - Costa Rica (Captions):

Located on the fertile slopes of the still-active Poas Volcano, Volcan Azul is primarily a conservation area, with only a quarter of its 300 hectares planted. The rest is a nature reserve consisting mainly of forest and streams, which serve as sanctuaries for numerous wild animals. This predominance of nature creates a microclimate conducive to the perfect ripening of the fruit and ideal conditions for fermentation and drying. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, highly qualified permanent staff, and optimal agronomic management, it is no surprise that Volcan Azul coffees regularly feature in the Cup of Excellence rankings. This SL28 enabled us to win the Brewers Cup with Pierre de Chanterac and the Barista Cup with Marie Picoche in 2020.

Dwight Aguilar - Nueva Allianza Geisha Washed Anaerobic - Peru (Legends):

Dwight Aguilar is a strong personality. In his province of La Convención, he was long considered a madman and an extremist because he questioned his neighbors’ agricultural practices: terraced the entire farm to combat erosion, switched to organic farming, started cultivating the Geisha variety before anyone else, experimented with processes... His two Cup of Excellence victories in 2018 and 2021 as a reward for all this work, earned him the respect of his colleagues and elevated him to the status of the best producer in Peru.
