Hunter Tedman - Hacienda Barbara, Las Brujas - Geisha Anaerobic Natural - Légendes
An agronomist by training, Hunter Tedman manages the three farms at Hacienda Barbara: Jaramillo, La Huaca, and the newest addition, Las Brujas. It is at the latter—Les sorcières in French, meaning “the witches”—that we stopped this season, as the coffees offer a sensory profile that is quite different from those of the Volcán Barú region. Nestled at the southern base of the volcano, sheltered from the winds in a tropical rainforest climate, Hunter Tedman has found the natural balance necessary for growing coffee without inputs and producing exceptional beans. This farm is one to watch, having already won an award at Best of Panama in 2022. A refined and powerful Geisha.

Sourcing note
Las Brujas is the latest project from Hacienda Barbara, a pioneer in Geisha production in Boquete. Run by the talented Hunter Tedamn (owner of Black Moon Farm), the farm is located on the southern slope of the Barù volcano, sheltered from the wind, which forms a micro-terroir forest with a humid tropical climate, giving the coffee a different style from other coffees in the region. More distinctive and powerful, it is another expression of the region's grand crus.

Tasting note
Notes of jasmine, black tea, and clementine.
This coffee is roasted for espresso methods and slow coffee methods.
Sourcing note
No track, no road to get to Negussa Tadessa, the owner of Tatmara Plantation, a sublime farm lost in the forest like the coffee that is harvested there. Bonga's feeder. Tatmara is a delight, a place touched by grace, like the coffee that is harvested there.
A speciality coffee
Speciality coffee are the best batches of coffee from farms or local cooperatives. They are fully traceable (botanical variety, region, plot) and respect demanding processing methods. This guarantees exceptional quality in the cup.
